Saltire Gender Pay Gap
The table above shows our mean and median gender pay gaps on hourly rates of pay as at the 5th April 2017 and mean and median gender pay gaps on bonuses paid in the year to 5th April 2017.
Saltire follow an equal pay policy and all opportunities are open equally to female and male candidates. Therefore these gender pay gaps are as a result of applications received for different jobs. At the snapshot date of 5th April 2017 Saltire had a workforce of 260 employees. Of these 51 were female and 209 were male. This gender imbalance is most obvious among our gas engineers, electricians and other building trades. At the 5th April 2017 we had 154 employees in this category; all 154 were male. This population of gas engineers, electricians and other building trades occupy most of the upper quartile, most of the upper middle quartile and most of the lower middle quartile. This group also largely provided the current engineering managers.
The only way that Saltire can balance its gender pay gap is to employ female gas engineers, electricians and other building trades. As well as balancing our gender pay gap this would be desirable from a business point of view. Going forward we will work with the colleges to bring in female apprentices.
